Avocado Toast
Chloe Osborne, the consulting chef at Cafe Gitane in Manhattan, was the first to put avocado on toast. This breakfast is a very delicious meal; the bagel gives it a great crunch, and the avocado brings summer and vitamins into your body. In total, one avocado toast has an average of 157 calories. It is more on the salty side of bread, but there are many ways to top it. Some of the recipes are not suitable for vegans, as there is bread and egg in one of the recipes, but if there is a vegan bread ideal for you, that is perfect. Vegetarians suit all recipes on this website, so even this one will do its job.
1. Simple
2. Spicy
3. Egg
4. Tomato
Base
- 1 Bagel
- 1 Avocado
- Salt
- Pepper
Option 1: Simple
INGREDIENTS:
- Base
- Bagel Seasoning
- Lemon juice
METHOD:
- Firstly, cut open the avocado and, with a spoon, take out the seed. Next, with either a knife or a spoon, scoop out the avocado from its shell.
- Once you have just the avocado left, take a knife and carefully cut the bagel in half. If you would like an extra crunch to the toast, place it in the toaster until it is your preferred colour. With a knife, when the bagel is ready, spread the avocado onto the toast as if it were butter.
- Lastly, top it off with a sprinkle of bagel seasoning and a small amount of lemon juice. (To prepare the lemon juice cut open a fresh lemon and squeeze out the juice. If a pip comes out, just carefully take it out. If you cannot do this with your hands, there are some lemon squeezers online that will help you) Last but not least, season your toast with some salt and pepper.
VOILA! Your simple bagel with avocado is finished. Enjoy.
Option 2: Spicy
INGREDIENTS:
- Base
- Red Pepper flakes
- Chilli Sauce or Hot Sauce
- Lastly, top it off with some chilli flakes and hot sauce. If you prefer a milder taste, start by going a bit slower and adding more as you go, or it might get unenjoyable.
DONE! The spicy bagel with avocado is finished. Enjoy.
Option 3: Egg
INGREDIENTS:
- Base
- 1 Medium Egg
METHOD:
- First, boil an egg for 3.30 minutes for a soft boiled egg, 2 minutes for a liquid yolk, and a hard egg 4-5mins. For the toast, I would recommend 4 minutes, but it is entirely up to you. (To boil the egg: place the egg into a saucepan and fill it with water so that you can still see a bit of the egg not in water. Turn on the oven, and when the water starts to boil, turn down the temperature a little and set a timer for your chosen time.
- Now, cut open the avocado and, with a spoon, take out the seed.
- Lastly, Cut the egg in quarters and place them onto the avocado bagel. Now you have a delicious, eggy bagel. If you needed some seasoning, sprinkle some salt and pepper onto the bagel!
Option 4: Tomato
INGREDIENTS:
- Base
- 1 Large Tomato
- Balsamic Dressing
- Lastly, Cut the tomato in eights, cut across an x, and place them onto the avocado bagel. Now you have a delicious tomato bagel. For extra taste, add balsamic vinegar and season with salt and pepper.
Well Done! You have made a great toast with lots of different tastes: tomato, vinegar, avocado, bread!
